Job Summary

The One-on-One Childcare Support Worker will work in conjunction with the LINC childcare staff and supervisor to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate childcare program for designated child needing one-on-one support.  The One-on-One Childcare Support Worker will provide one-on-one care to a child, offering a nurturing environment and encouraging their intellectual, physical, and emotional growth. This position will work in close cooperation with the Childcare Supervisor, FVCDC, school staff and other Childcare Workers. This position is funded via support.

Your Role:

Archway’s One-on-One Childcare Worker with the LINC Program contributes by:

  • Providing one-on-one support services for a child designated with need of extra supports.
  • Utilizing guiding techniques which include modelling, observing, questioning, demonstrating and reinforcing.
  • Carrying out developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for the child, which may include indoor/outdoor, active/quiet, individual and group activities.
  • Attending to the child’s physical needs which may include lifting, carrying, eating, sleeping, wiping noses, and other basic needs.
  • Attending to child’s psychological and emotional needs which may include cuddling, rocking and holding the child. Provides a caring, nurturing environment.
  • Attending and collaborating with the support team (Supervisor, FVCDC Consultant, and the family) to create and support a care plan that meets the needs of the child and the family.
  • Ensuring a healthy and safe environment. Administers First Aid when necessary.  Observing and removing potential hazards.  Reporting all incidents of child abuse to the supervisory position and following organization’s procedures and government legislation.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with the parents.

  • Temporary to June 27, 2025, possibility of extension.

Getting an Interview–you will be considered if you have:

  • A minimum requirement of 20 Hour Responsible Adult Training, Family Childcare Certification, or ECE Assistant status through the BC Ministry ECE Registry.
  • Early Childhood (ECE) certification is an asset.
  • Current first aid certification.
  • At least one year experience providing care to children.
  • Experience working with children with behavioural difficulties is an asset.

The Job Requires you to have::

  • Ability and comfort in talking to children and their parents.
  • Good organization, time, and general management skills.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development (ages and stages).
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate group processes and facilitation techniques.
  • Familiarity with Childcare Licensing Regulations as indicated in the Community Care and Assisted Living Act.
  • Ability to be exposed to a high level of noise and distractions from children.
  • Ability to pay close attention to children’s physical and emotional needs.
  • Ability for moderate physical activity involving walking, standing, bending, and lifting children up to 40 lbs.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment.
