Job Summary
The School Based Addictions Prevention and Health Promotion Worker reports directly to the Program Supervisor and is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion and substance misuse prevention activities for youth in the Abbotsford School District.
Your Role:
Archway’s School Based Addictions Prevention and Health Promotion Worker with the School Based Addictions Prevention Program contributes by:
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion and substance misuse prevention activities for youth in the Abbotsford School District.
- Conducting information sessions, classroom presentations, group discussions, peer mentor training and support, and life skills training.
- Recruiting, training, and supporting peer mentors in each of the high schools.
- Providing information to youth and parents on community resources.
This position is a great fit for someone who can connect with youth; is fluent in both Punjabi and English; is a self-starter and is knowledgeable of addictions prevention and health promotion strategies.

- Wage: $27.54 per hour (CSSEA JJEP evaluation)
- A full time at 35 hours per week, availability Mondays to Fridays, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Getting an Interview–you will be considered if you have:
- Diploma in Addictions Prevention, or a related human/social service field.
- Direct program delivery experience in a school based or community social services agency.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of community-based programs and related provincial and community support services.
- Demonstrated knowledge of addictions prevention and health promotions strategies appropriate to a school-based program.
The Job Requires you to have:
- A Class 5 BC Driver’s License, clean driving record/driver’s abstract, use of a personal vehicle, and car insurance.
- Excellent interpersonal behaviour and communication skills, and ability to connect to youth.
- Fluency in both Punjabi and English (spoken and written).
- Up-to-date knowledge of substances and their effects.
- Knowledge of prevention, screening, and life skills training techniques and the system of care.
- The ability to interact with people in difficult situations, and with complex clients with diverse needs.
- A moderate level of physical health and fitness to effectively carry out the duties of the position.
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment.
