The Archway New Beginnings program, which offers young parents the opportunity to complete their secondary school education while accessing parenting supports and quality childcare, has expanded their offering and is reaching out further into the community.
We are delighted to share that the New Beginnings Young Parent Community Outreach program will now be providing support for more young parents in the wider community.
Through the program, New Beginnings’ Parent Support Worker Tamara Dueckman is providing assistance with healthy parenting and relationships, resources for income assistance and housing, support with family court, referrals to mental health services and guidance for pursuing post-secondary education. Young parents can also gain referrals to quality childcare and other Archway programs like the food bank.
These can include parents who were attending New Beginnings or another Abbotsford secondary school, those who have recently graduated and those who are not ready to return to school. Priority may be given to those under age 24.
Services are free to young parents and the program is offered in partnership with the Ministry of Children and Family Development. New Beginnings is offered in partnership with the Abbotsford School District.
