Corinne Schmidt

Board Member

Corinne Schmidt worked as a lawyer for almost 35 years prior to her retirement from the BC Prosecution Service in January 2026. She is most proud of her work at the Abbotsford Crown Counsel office, where she focused on the prosecution of intimate partner violence (IPV) criminal offences. Through this work, Corinne was instrumental in developing Crown Counsel best practices for IPV prosecutions and promoting collaboration with justice and community partners. She completed her prosecution career in a management role supporting 10 Crown Counsel offices in Northern BC.

Abbotsford is Corinne’s hometown, and she continues to give back as an active member of several committees, including Violence Against Women in Relationships, Safe Relationships Safe Children, and the Purple Lights Nights committee. She also serves as a board member for the Abbotsford Restorative Justice and Advocacy Association.

Corinne enjoys her work as a sessional instructor in Criminal Law at the University of the Fraser Valley, the Justice Institute of B.C., and Trinity Western University. In her free time, she loves to travel, spend time with her chocolate lab, Lyra, and hopes to make more time to return to playing piano.
