Maria Cargnelli

Associate Director of Early Years and Counselling

Maria Cargnelli has worked for Archway Community Services since 1994. As the Associate Director of Early Years and Counselling, her portfolio includes early years programming (including childcare, family resource, father involvement, child care resource and referral programs) and Montrose Trauma and Wellness Counselling.

Maria’s career started with working with adolescent parents, both within child care and support services. She taught Early Childhood Educator diploma courses for over 10 years, working with Early Childhood Educators in their infant/toddler certification.

Part of Maria’s journey to become a leader in the field was completion of Leadership 2020 program with the BC Federation of Social Services.

Maria is the co-chair of the Abbotsford Early Years Committee and is a board member of the Coalition of Child Care Advocates of BC. In 2021, Maria was awarded the Child Care Award of Excellence – Fraser Region.

Maria is a strong advocate for mental health services and in collaboration with community partners has sustained funding for free counselling programs within Archway. She continues to advocate for more mental health services within the Abbotsford community.
