Bulk Buy Collective

Food background with assortment of fresh healthy organic fruits and vegetables on the table

Save 30-40% on your produce bill!

Join the Abbotsford Bulk Buy Collective for wholesale-priced healthy food all year round!

For just $15, you get 9-12 varieties of fruits and veggies. Our store is open for a limited time each month so order ahead and come pick up your bag!

The program is open to all and no registration is required to participate. To keep prices low and give back, volunteers are asked to help sort the wholesale order, sell, deliver, or donate their reusable bags when they can.

The Collective began in June 2021 and as of 2023, there have been more than 1000 individuals, including 450 children in 290+ households, who benefit from the shared purchasing power of the Bulk Buy.

How it works

  1. Order the produce bag or bags on the day that works best for you. We have two pickup days with different store hours for convenience.
  2. Pay $15 on the pick-up day or before (cash is accepted for all pick-up orders and you can pay in advance by credit card.)
  3. Produce will be available to buy between:
    1. 12pm – 3pm on the 2nd Saturday
    2. 5pm – 7pm on the 4th Friday
Every month at 33914 Essendene Ave.
  4. Deliveries are made to house-bound clients after sorting is finished or when the store closes.
  5. Members of the Bulk Buy Collective are expected to volunteer for an hour every few months if they are able. To sort the order into bags, it takes about an hour. If you would like to volunteer longer, we are happy to have volunteers deliver or man the sales desk!

There are a variety of duties available to ensure accessibility and children are welcome.

Standard and South Asian Produce Options

Bulk Buy Collective members are able to choose between a standard bag and/or a South Asian friendly produce bag!

The Food Justice program cares about food access in our community and we hope the Bulk Buy program will make fresh produce more affordable for you. We live in a culturally diverse community and as such, want to ensure we’re being inclusive of these culturally diverse needs.

The term ‘food security’ is achieved when “everyone in society has, at all times, economic and physical access to safe and nutritious food, sufficient to meet dietary needs and preferences.”

Food Justice Program

The Bulk Buy Collective is part of the Food Justice Program.

I moved to Abbotsford and didn’t really know anyone so I thought I’d volunteer to meet people. And I thought I can put food in bags once a month!
