Delish Catering is a multi-ethnic catering service in Abbotsford that brings together the talented culinary skills of newcomers to Canada. Delish gives participants the opportunity to develop their professional catering skills in the Canadian workplace.
The Catering Chef is responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the Delish Program including the planning, preparing, and cooking of menu items, ensuring the smooth operation of the program and providing leadership in collaboration with the Program Coordinator, to the staff and volunteer(s) of the Delish Catering program. This position requires creativity, teamwork, independence, and leadership skills.
Your Role:
Archway’s Catering Chef with the Delish Catering Program contributes by:
- Preparing food items according to the menu, specifications, and recipes in a timely manner.
- Sourcing seasonal and local ingredients and researching wholesale buying opportunities.
- Tasting each menu item to ensure correct seasoning – including meat/dairy/gluten items.
- Planning and finalizing menu items in consultation with the Program Coordinator and ordering supplies when needed.
- Monitoring and managing all cooking tools and ingredients.
- Developing recipes that comply with Archway policy and preparing modified or special diet items to accommodate client request(s).
- Responsible for assisting in the fulfillment of regulatory requirements related to the operations of
- In collaborating with the Program Coordinator, assisting with the organization of catering and tasting events, as well as the day-to-day cooking for our meal program.
- Ensuring beverages are set up at events (coffee, tea, water dispensers).
- Assisting with preparation and distribution of various marketing and program materials.
- Assisting the Program Coordinator in delivering catering orders and clean up after each catering until complete.
This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys cooking, following recipes, learning new flavours and cooking techniques, able to work safely, efficiently, and neatly, and willing to work flexible hours.

Getting an Interview–you will be considered if you have:
- Secondary High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- 4 + years in a cooking position (fast food restaurants not included).
- 1 year cooking experience in a catering environment.
- Experience in using different cooking tools, equipment and utensils.
- Valid Class 5 BC Drivers’ License, clean driving record and a clear Driver’s Abstract.
- Ability to understand and speak English is a must.
- A Food Safe Certificate is an asset; however, we will provide for the right candidate.
The Job Requires you to have:
- Strong knowledge of cooking practices, dietary and health requirements.
- The ability to work flexible hours (including early mornings, evenings, and weekends).
- Strong verbal, written, and active listening skills; able to communicate effectively and respectfully with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
- Capability of following instructions without variation.
- Good relationship building and networking skills; able to build rapport with clients, volunteers, and stakeholders.
- Working knowledge and use of kitchen equipment.
- The desire to learn new flavours and techniques.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, and bend and move around.
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Good problem-solving skills; able to identify issues and provide an effective solution.
- Ability to cook with a variety of ingredients (including meat), including the ability to taste all menu items as
- The use of a personal vehicle will be required for program-related driving; must be able to be insured according to Archway’s transportation policy.
- This position requires meeting with the public, requiring adherence to health and safety protocols.
