Job Summary

This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs, which has certain requirements and encourages the hiring of youth with disabilities, Indigenous, Black, other racialized youth, and youth in the 2SLGBTQI+ community.   

Youth must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be between the ages of 16 and 30, at the time of their start of employment at Archway.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, immigrant with permanent residency status, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
  • NOTE: International students are not eligible for this program.

The Canada Summer Jobs program objectives are to:

    • provide quality experiences for youth;
    • respond to national and local priorities to improve access to the labour market for youth who face unique barriers to employment, i.e., youth who are early leavers of high school; not in employment, education or training; are underemployed; Black, and other racialized youth; youth with disabilities; Indigenous youth; 2SLGBTQ+ youth;
    • provide opportunities for youth to develop and improve their skills.

The CSJ IT Helpdesk Technician assists the IT Team in completing IT projects as defined by IT organizational requirements at various Archway locations in the Abbotsford and Mission areas.  The CSJ Helpdesk Technician will receive and execute IT tickets to support Archway staff.  This position requires logical thinking and isolating possible points of failure to identify the root cause of the problem.  Issue identification and resolution are the end goals.

Your Role:

Archway’s CSJ IT Helpdesk Technician with the Information Technology Program contributes by:

  • Providing IT helpdesk support to Archway staff both on site and remotely.
  • Assisting and supporting the IT Team in maintaining the IT Infrastructure to satisfy organizational requirements.
  • Responding to IT helpdesk requests from Archway staff seeking IT support.
  • Using the IT ticket system to receive and respond to IT requests.
  • Troubleshooting IT issues for Archway programs and staff.
  • Writing data reports as needed and communicating with the IT Supervisor to share data report findings.
  • Using the IT ticket system to track work, solutions, and time spent addressing IT issues.
  • Working with the IT team to support work on tickets, projects, and other requirements.

This position is a great fit for someone who has great communication skills, actively listens to others to gain a full understanding of IT issues, is able to troubleshoot IT issues and enjoys working with a very diverse group of employees. 

 Our Offer

    • Wage: $19.00 per hour.
    • A full-time position at 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
    • Temporary for 8 weeks, starting in early June 2025.

    Getting an Interview–you will be considered if you have:

    • Education and experience in a related field is an asset.
    • Experience in customer service is an asset.
    • Knowledge of PC hardware, operating system installation, configuration, and troubleshooting techniques is an asset.
    • A valid BC Driver’s license and satisfactory driver’s record is an asset.

    The Job Requires you to have:

    • Ability to work independently and as a member of a collaborative team to solve complex issues in a timely manner.
    • Analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Good planning and organizing skills.
    • Ability to work Monday to Friday, with possible evening shift work from 12:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
    • Ability to work in confined conditions and perform activities that require a moderate level of physical exertion for a short period.
    • Ability for a high degree of distractions and competing priorities, requiring the ability to effectively switch tasks.
    • Ability to work for extended periods of sitting and screen/keyboard use.
    • Ability for direct, in-person contact with on-site staff and clients; adherence to health and safety protocols is required.
    • Ability to drive for program-related work; the use of a personal, reliable vehicle is an asset.
    • ​​​Eligibility to meet Canada Summer Jobs requirements of being between 16 to 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period; be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada. International students are not eligible participants, including anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are not eligible.
    • A satisfactory criminal records check is a condition of employment which Archway will make arrangements for the successful candidates.
