This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs, which has certain requirements and encourages the hiring of youth in the following categories to apply: youth with disabilities, Indigenous, Black, racialized youth, and youth in the 2SLGBTQI+ community.
Youth must meet the following criteria:
- Must be between the ages of 16 and 30, at the time of their start of employment at Archway.
- Must be a Canadian citizen, immigrant with permanent residency status, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
- NOTE: International students are not eligible for this program.
The Canada Summer Jobs program objectives are to:
- provide quality experiences for youth;
- respond to national and local priorities to improve access to the labour market for youth who face unique barriers to employment, i.e., youth who are early leavers of high school; not in employment, education or training; are underemployed; Black, and other racialized youth; youth with disabilities; Indigenous youth; 2SLGBTQ+ youth;
- provide opportunities for youth to develop and improve their skills.
Job Summary:
The CSJ Mental Health Worker reports to the Foundry Supervisor, and will work with the Youth and Family Engagement Coordinator to organize, facilitate, and deliver health and wellness activities for youth ages 12 to 24 with mental health disabilities. Activities are offered in person and virtually. In addition, the CSJ Mental Health Worker will promote the Foundry by building relationships with individuals and businesses in the community.
Your Role:
Archway’s CSJ Mental Health Worker with the Foundry Abbotsford contributes by:
- Co-facilitating health and wellness groups for youth 12 to 24 years old, together with Peer Support Workers and external presenters.
- Engaging youth and planning activities based on what they have communicated as their passion and interests.
- Ensuring safety protocols are communicated to in-person group participants and providing any required safety supplies and PPE.
- Scheduling health and wellness activities that are tailored to participants.
- Planning and coordinating transportation for community outings for youth.
- Promoting groups through social media, service providers, and community networking.
- Planning and ensuring supplies and space are ready for group activities.
This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with youth, who has great interpersonal and communication skills, and enjoys facilitating health and wellness activities.
Our Offer
- Wage: $18.25 to $24.00 per hour, depending on experience.
- A full-time position at 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Some evenings may be required.
- Temporary for 8 weeks, starting in late May or early June 2026.

The Job Requires you to have:
- A valid class 5 BC Driver’s license and a satisfactory driver’s record.
- Good verbal, written, and active listening communication skills in English; able to communicate clearly and respectfully with youth from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and varying levels of English.
- Ability to demonstrate empathetic, compassionate, non-judgmental, and flexible behaviour.
- Good relationship building skills; able to build rapport and work with youth.
- Good organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Ability to develop crisis management skills and ability to work effectively in a crisis.
- Ability to use virtual meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
- Ability to use various social media platforms.
- Ability to work effectively independently and with other program staff, relevant service providers, and community members.
- The use of a personal, reliable vehicle for program-related driving.
- Ability to work with youth in difficult and challenging situations.
- Flexible working hours including some evening work is required.
- Ability to have direct, in-person contact with on-site staff and clients; adherence to health and safety protocols is required.
- Ability to handle crisis and conflict situations requiring the ability to de-escalate.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Eligibility to meet Canada Summer Jobs requirements of being between 16 to 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period; be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada. International students are not eligible participants, including anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are not eligible.
- A satisfactory criminal records check is a condition of employment which Archway will make arrangements for the successful candidates.
