To mark National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21st, 2025
We’ve gathered a list of Indigenous events, exhibits, and activities happening during National Indigenous History Month in Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Mission.

National Indigenous Peoples Day & Indigenous History Month Events
Selxwi:chel Arts & Culture Day
- Date: Sunday, June 8th – 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
- Location: Trethewey House Heritage Site, 2313 Ware Street, Abbotsford, BC
- About: This is an Indigenous-themed skills transmission event with performing arts, interactive crafts, and workshops. The artists facilitating these activities will be from local Indigenous communities.

Rooted Waters & Cultural Showcase
- Date: Tuesday, June 17th – 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
- Location: Chilliwack Cultural Centre, 9201 Corbould St, Chilliwack
- About: A powerful celebration of Indigenous culture, history, and art. Browse through an Indigenous Vendor Marketplace & enjoy Indigenous and local cuisine from food trucks. There will be a ticketed Rooted Waters screening and live puppeteer performance.

Note: This is a family-friendly, community event. All are welcome to attend and support Indigenous culture, artists, and businesses. The Theatre portion is TICKET ONLY.
National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration
- Date: Friday, June 20th – 9:30 am – 1:30 pm
- Location: Mill Lake Park, 2310 Emerson Street, Abbotsford, BC
- About: This event includes activities & stations featuring storytelling, dance, art, and more. Free and open to all ages with no registration required.

National Indigenous Peoples Day
- Date: Friday, June 20th – 11:00 am to 3:00 pm
- Location: Heritage Park, 7494 Mary St, Mission
- About: A family-friendly event to honour the amazing cultures, stories and traditions of Indigenous people from across Turtle Island. There will be live entertainment, interactive activities, and local vendors.

Ruby Creek Art Gallery Beadathon
- Date: Saturday, June 21st – 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
- Location: Ruby Creek Art Gallery, 58611 Lougheed Highway, Agassiz
- About: Witness the artistry of beading as seasoned and beginner beaders are invited to share the cultural significance of Indigenous beadwork. Visitors will also be able to shop for finished pieces and enjoy food from the bannock truck.

Sasquatch Days in Harrison Hot Springs
- Date: Saturday, June 28th & Sunday, June 29th
- Location: Harisson Lakefront, 200 Esplanade
- About: Join the community on the shores of Harrison Lake, the traditional territory of Sts’ailes people on the ancient village site of Qwólts and enjoy war canoe races, salmon BBQ, medicine walks and more.

- Guided Grounds Tours: Coqualeetza (Chilliwack), St Mary’s Residential School (Mission)
- Stó:lō Lands Tours (from Chilliwack to Hope)
Fraser River Discovery Centre
- Visitors to the Discovery Centre will learn about the river’s contribution to the life, history, and future of British Columbia and its people through rotating exhibits and hands-on programs
