External Counselling Resources

Archway offers counselling programs but the type of counselling or eligibility requirements may not work for everyone.

Below is a list of external free or low-cost counselling programs and resources in the Fraser Valley. To find a private therapist in Abbotsford or another city, please visit psychologytoday.com and/or southasiantherapists.org. Rates of private therapists will vary.

General/Non-Specific Counselling

Abbotsford Adult Mental Health and Substance Use Centre

Adult Mental Health provides mental health & substance use services for adults aged 19+ including eating disorders Program, DBT therapy, individual counselling, older adult mental health services, and the Rapid Access Clinic.

BeMorr Society

BeMorr Society is a short-term counselling program. They provide 6 sessions, then the clinician will work with the client to make a plan to move forward or advocate for more sessions.

Bounce Back

A free skill building program designed to help adults and youth 15+ manage low mood, mild to moderate depression, anxiety, stress or worry. Delivered online or over the phone with a coach.

Canadian Muslim Counselling

Providing affordable e-mental health services to significantly improve the spiritual, psychological, social, emotional and economic well-being of diverse communities across Canada.

Cares Counselling Society

Providing quality professional counselling services by skilled, professionally trained and certified therapists, at affordable rates to children, youth, adults, couples, and families residing in the greater Fraser Valley area.

Cascade Christian Counselling

Cascade Christian Counselling program offers a caring, faith-based approach to help you move towards healing. They have individual, couples, and family counselling services. Some topics that they can assist with include grief & loss, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues.

Counselling for All

Counselling For All is a virtual therapy platform that provides accessible, affordable, holistic mental health care. They offer individual counselling on a variety of issues as well as holistic wrap around support for topics including finances, education, relationships, etc.

Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP)

The govenment offers a range of support services for victims, immediate family members, and witnesses of violent crime. There is no need to wait for charges to be laid or a conviction to receive benefits. Benefits can cover the cost of counselling, prescription drugs, income support, etc.

First Nations Health Authority

The FNHA offers a range of services for First Nations clients including: mental health & substance use services, health services, environmental health & emergency services, and children & family services.

Fraser River Counselling (FRC): Operates September – April

FRC offers a broad range of low-cost counselling services for the community. While under the supervision of a Registered Clinical Counsellor, practicum counsellors-in-training deliver a range of clinical services for children, youth, adults, seniors and families. It has an intake process to start counselling with them.

  • Cost: $20 charge per 50-minute session with a practicum student (1st-year student) and $40 per session with an intern (2nd-year student). In case of hardship or exceptional circumstances, this fee can be reduced.

OK Clinical Therapy Group

General counselling services (self-referrals accepted) for diverse needs including individuals, couples, and family counselling. They can also help with topics of trauma, grief, autism, ADHD, workplace stress, etc.

Pro Mentality

Offers a variety of one-on-one counselling and group counselling, outdoor counselling. Registered Clinical Counselling: Individuals, couples counselling.

Telecare BC

Telecare BC is a helpline service that provides Christian-based empathetic listening to anyone in need. They also offer a workshop called “Listen Up!” for those who wish to increase their listening capacities.

Children & Youth Specific Counselling

Child & Youth Mental Health

CYMH provides assessment and clinical counselling services for children and youth ages 0-18 and their families. These services are designed for to support children and youth with significant difficulties with their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. They have walk-in screening intake on Tuesdays from 9:00am-4:00pm for ages 6-18.

Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre

They provide mental health and substance use information, resources, and peer support to families across BC. Their online resources make finding support for children and youth easier to navigate.

Kids Help Phone

The Kids Help Phone is a comprehensive hub for resources related to children and youth’s mental health and wellness. They offer resources, games, and information on their website as well as crisis support through their online messaging system or through text/phone.

Short Term Assessment Response Treatment (START)

The START team provides in-community mental health or substance use assessments and crisis intervention for children and youth aged 6-18. Anyone can book an appointment with START including youth, families, schools, community supports, and medical professionals.

YouthinBC

Operated by the Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention Centre of BC, they provide immediate access to barrier-free, non-judgemental, confidential support 24/7 to youth aged 25 and under. They have a phone and text line as well as online services.
