Cedar, Sage and Sweetgrass: Indigenous Art Show Opening

The Cedar, Sage & Sweetgrass exhibition will be on display at the Open Space Gallery from September 19 to October 24. This collaborative showcase features outstanding works by Indigenous artists. The public is invited to attend the Opening Reception on Sept 19th from 5:00pm – 7:00pm, which aims to bring the Abbotsford community together in celebration of these remarkable artists and their unique contributions.

Stetís ímexstowx (Walk Beside Us)

- Hosts: Abbotsford Arts Council, Abbotsford Children’s Theatre, Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service, Abbotsford Police Department, Abbotsford School District, City of Abbotsford, Clearbrook Library (FVRL), Heritage Abbotsford, Literacy Matters Abbotsford, Máthxwi First Nation, Semá:th First Nation, The Reach Gallery Museum, Tourism Abbotsford, University of the Fraser Valley’s Peace and Reconciliation Centre (PARC)
Local civic organizations will unite around Thunderbird Square and Civic Plaza with a common goal – to create a space for learning and understanding. All ages are welcome to this free indoor/outdoor event, which will feature drumming, orange shirt art & education, a performance of Luminous Waters, and more.

Lighting The Path – Our Stories of Resilience

Lunch and Learn Events
For people who might not be able to make it out to an event for Orange Shirt Day, the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation is holding a week of online lunch and learns from September 22nd to September 26th.
Lunch and Learn sessions will be hosted virtually over Zoom Webinar and streamed to YouTube.
Expert matter speakers will present for 40-50 minutes before a Q&A between the moderator and guest(s).
All sessions will have simultaneous English-French, and ASL interpretation.
Chilliwack Events
Chilliwack Truth & Reconciliation: Market & Panel Event

- Hosts: Chilliwack Arts & Cultural Centre Society
The Chilliwack Arts & Cultural Centre Society invites you to a evening of connection, culture, and conversation. The market will feature Bannock Wagon, information tables on panel topics, and a food area. Admission to the market is free.
The evening continues indoors with compelling panels and performances focused on leadership, land restoration, and cultural healing.
Tickets for the theatre portion of the evening are available on a pay-what-you-can basis, with options of $5, $10, or $15.
Truth & Reconciliation Day at Greendale Acres

Free admission for Indigenous community members in honor of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Enjoy traditional Bannock prepared and sold as a fundraiser for the Memiyelhtel program from 11 am to 4 pm and Pil’alt Canoe Family Sharing of Culture from 2 pm to 3 pm. All guests are encouraged to wear an orange shirt.
Truth and Reconciliation Community Event
- Where: Sardis Park (45897 Lake Dr, Chilliwack)
- When: September 30th, 2025 11:00am to 3:00pm
- Hosts: Wilma’s Transition Society
The event will feature an opening ceremony, drumming, dancing, food trucks, local vendors and much more!
Truth and Reconciliation Walk
- Where: The walk begins at Sasquatch Crossing Eco Lodge (155000 Morris Valley Road) and will conclude at Sandpiper Resort Golf Course (14282 Morris Valley Road)

- Hosts: Sts’ailes First Nation
Join the Sts’ailes First Nation for their 4th annual walk for Truth and Reconciliation. The walk will feature drummers and singers with songs of healing leading the way forward.
Bridging Hearts: A Step Towards Unity and Healing
- Where: Coqualeetza Grounds (7201 Vedder Road, Chilliwack)
- When: September 30th, 2025 10:00am to 2:00pm
- Hosts: Stó:lō Nation
Join Stó:lō Nation for a day of remembrance and reflection in honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. There will be cultural performances, Indigenous vendors, and food trucks onsite.
