Archway Community Services raised $75,000 for local community programs at its fifth annual charity golf tournament. The Archway Golf Tournament, presented by Sutton Group WestCoast Realty was held Tuesday, June 21st at Ledgeview Golf and Country Club.
“We’re over the moon at how our community pulled together to show their support in such a big way,” said Steve Carlton, Archway board president and golf committee chair.
The funds and support came from over 40 sponsors, partners and donors, plus an online auction. Proceeds will ensure that crucial programs at Archway remain available to those who need them most.
“I can’t tell you how much this means to our agency,” said Rod Santiago, Archway’s Executive Director.
“Donations raised through Archway’s golf tournament ensure that impactful – yet underfunded – services are made available to our communities; services such as: income tax completion for vulnerable seniors, one-to-one assistance for newcomers facing multiple barriers, advocacy for youth who have aged out of government care, and provision of resources and community for pregnant women and new moms.”
The 2021 tournament raised $70,000, while the 2020 event was cancelled due to COVID.
120 golfers at the sold-out tournament enjoyed a great lunch, a friendly competition of golf and a dinner banquet.
“The weather was perfect and after having to provide a to-go dinner due to COVID last year, it was amazing to gather in person again,” said Carlton.
“We’re proud to have been a part of such a great event and look forward to our continued partnership,” said Mike Gibson, a realtor for Sutton Group WestCoast Realty, the title sponsor of the event.
Next year’s tournament is scheduled for June 20th, 2023, and more information can be found at ArchwayGolf.ca.
