The Archway Montvue Shelter officially opened its doors to individuals experiencing homelessness on July 1st, 2025.
Originally functioning as a 10-bed winter shelter since 2021, the facility on 2539 Montvue Ave has since undergone significant renovations and now offers 30 semi-private spaces. These upgrades provide a safer, more dignified environment where guests can access essential services including nutritious meals, washrooms, showers, laundry facilities, and a private outdoor area.
The shelter operates 24/7 with in-house support, offering referrals, advocacy, and connections to a wide network of community partners. To promote safety and reduce line-ups or loitering, Montvue operates on a referral-only basis through service providers in our community.
The shelter’s mission is to support guests in improving their housing stability and overall well-being. With a strong focus on harm reduction, the shelter prioritizes safety for both individuals and the broader community.
This expansion is part of the B.C. government’s $19-billion investment in housing, reflecting a continued commitment to supporting people in need with shelters and vital support services.
The province provided $2.3 million to renovate and prepare the building and $6.6 million in operating funding over the next three years.
The Montvue Shelter is operated in partnership with BC Housing and the City of Abbotsford.
