On Saturday, October 26th, the Abbotsford Mission Recycling Program will be hosting their annual Day of Pumpkin Decorating from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the recycling depot located at 33670 Valley Road in Abbotsford.

The free event is held in celebration of the national Waste Reduction Week and encourages families to decorate the pumpkins without using cutting or carving utensils. Abbotsford Mission Recycling Program’s Education Coordinator, Mallory Palliyaguru says, by not carving them, “the suggestion is that the pumpkins can be reused to bake fall treats, unlike traditional carved pumpkins.”

The pumpkins are generously donated by Willow View Farms. The limit is one pumpkin per child with a maximum of three children per adult. For more information, please visit the Abbotsford Mission Recycling Program’s website or contact 604.850.3551.

Abbotsford Mission Recycling is a program of Archway Community Services that provides recycling services for the District of Mission and City of Abbotsford. The program also offers an extensive public awareness program, including school education, community workshops and a recycling education centre.
