food sharing event in abbotsford

The community is invited to attend Taste Around The World, a culturally diverse food sharing event in Abbotsford hosted by the Archway Community Services’ Valley Food Connection.

In collaboration with United Way British Columbia, Tourism Abbotsford, and the City of Abbotsford, this annual gathering aims to celebrate the cultural diversity within Abbotsford and connect newcomers as they share their cultural recipes and stories with attendees.

Last year’s inaugural event saw more than 100 community members come together to enjoy a variety of foods from different cultures.

Once again, volunteer cooks will lead small groups in cooking their favorite family recipes and share information about their respective homelands and cultures at the event. The event will have up to 400 attendees and each attendee will get a chance to taste a sample of foods from around the world. In addition, food trucks will be available with food for purchase.

“This year we are looking for volunteers to help with a variety of tasks such as set-up and take-down as well as distributing food at the event. This is a great opportunity for individuals to nurture meaningful connections within our community,” said Vicki Lin, supervisor of the Archway Valley Food Connection.

Those interested in volunteering can contact Vicki Lin at vicki.lin@archway.ca.

“Through this event, our goal is to encourage local cultural awareness and appreciation, provide a platform for cultural exchange, and showcase cultural culinary diversity within our community,” said Lin.

This year’s event will be held on Saturday, August 24th at Jubilee Park from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm. This is a free event and is limited to 400 tickets, attendees should RSVP at https://TasteAroundTheWorld.eventbrite.ca
