Advanced English Pathways Course

Advanced English Pathways course is a university prep course that will develop language skills to help the student meet the English language entrance requirement for many of University of the Fraser Valley’s (UFV) health care training, education and trades programs.

This language program is ideal for:

  • Those wishing to meet the English requirements for UFV classes – 3-6 developmental credits
  • Those wanting to experience university in Canada
  • Those interested in studying for education, healthcare or trades in the future and needing to improve their language level
  • Those simply interested in career exploration

Course includes:

  • Development of writing processes, reading, critical thinking, research, grammar, oral communication & presentation skills
  • Communication in English at length in a variety of formal and informal settings
  • Healthcare, Education, & Trades focused job search & career exploration
  • Learning about programs within UFV such as Continuing Education, Health Sciences, Education, School and Community Support Worker, and Trades

Eligibility

  • Permanent Residents (PR), Naturalized Canadian Citizens, Protected Persons or Domestic Students (including those on special temporary permit like the CUEAT visa)
  • English Level: Overall CLB 5-7 (depends on the course)

  • Days: Monday & Thursday
  • Time: 6:00 PM – 8:20 PM
Hope

  • CLB 6 (no skill below CLB 6)

Schedule

  • Jan 10 – Mar 28, 2026
  • Day/Time: Saturdays 9AM-12:50PM (in-person or online), Tuesdays 6PM-7:20PM (online)
  • Online Only students will need to take the final exam on March 28 in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, or Hope

 

Fees

  • Tuition is free (student fees of $245 may apply)

  • Send your most recent English proficiency scores. We can schedule a free English test for you if you need
  • After confirming your English level, we will help you register for the UFV class
  • We will help you apply for financial aid
