The Advocacy & Communication Coordinator reports to the Supervisor, Food Justice within the Food Security program in the Advocacy and Social Equity Department at Archway Community Services. This role supports Food Security initiatives by engaging communities, organizations, and partners through clear, ethical, and dignity‑centred advocacy and communications.
The Coordinator supports Food Bank fundraising and philanthropic efforts by coordinating food drives, community events, and advocacy activities, and by ethically supporting the collection and sharing of impact stories that demonstrate the value of donor and community contributions while prioritizing dignity and consent.
Working closely with the Manager, Food Security, this position applies a human rights and equity‑based social justice lens to all food‑related activities at the Food Bank. Across all responsibilities, the Advocacy and Communications Coordinator applies trauma-informed, equity-based, and culturally responsive approaches in alignment with Archway Community Services’ mission and organizational policies.
Your Role:
Archway’s Advocacy and Communications Coordinator with the Food Bank contributes by:
- Overseeing the web submission form for all food drive inquiries and coordinating responses with appropriate Food Bank supervisors and appropriate departments for promotion, acknowledgement, and food collection support.
- Coordinating the monitoring and timely response to food and toy drive inquiries, including tracking outcomes for each drive.
- Supporting the flow of food and toy donations following food or toy drives by assisting with communication between drivers, warehouse staff, and Food Security and Christmas Bureau supervisors, during peak seasons.
- Coordinating communication with the Food Security Manager and appropriate Archway departments to review and approve communication to be sent via email or phone, including the use of MailChimp to send mass email opportunities for advocacy, food drive participation, and impact stories.
- Coordinating the development and review of all advocacy materials, including print materials, blog posts, presentation slides, toolkits, fact sheets, social media content and newsletters.
- Contributing to the production and distribution of a newsletter, social media content, and communications that are advocacy and food drive focused and ensuring that communications reflect dignity, accuracy, and empowerment.
- Tracking and reporting on engagement outcomes, contributions, and community impact relating to food drives and community engagement presentations.
- Designing and maintaining welcoming public-facing spaces that acknowledge culturally significant and significant awareness days throughout the year.
- Working with the Volunteer Coordinator and Warehouse Coordinator to recruit, coach, schedule, and support volunteers for food drives and fundraising events that benefit Food Security programs.
- Participating in and supports Archway Food Security events and programs including and not limited to: Toys for Tots, Canucks Food Drive, golf tournaments, and other community initiatives.
This position is an excellent fit for someone with experience in community activation through fundraising, and who is passionate about promoting and supporting the food security through food drives and community events. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, with the ability to track and report on event outcomes and effectively manage assets such as event supplies and promotional materials.

Getting an Interview–you will be considered if you have:
- A diploma in Human Services or a related field OR an acceptable combination of education and work experience.
- Experience in program coordination.
- Experience in public speaking.
- Experience coordinating and directing volunteers is preferred.
- Experience working with donors is an asset.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations is an asset.
- A Class 5 BC Driver’s License, clean driving record, and access to a reliable car.
The Job Requires you to have:
- Well-developed relationship building skills.
- Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organization, planning, and time management skills.
- Well-developed verbal, written, and active listening skills, able to communicate effectively and respectfully with people from a variety of backgrounds.
- Strong knowledge of the issues, barriers, and impacts encompassing food insecurity, homelessness, and housing.
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and changing work conditions.
- Ability to work in a timely manner in response to seasonal deadlines.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and well-developed use of Excel.
- Ability to work in an open office space.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time, being on the phone, and working at a computer.
- The ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs, and work in a warehouse environment.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work outside some of the time.
- The use of a personal vehicle is required for program-related driving; must be able to be insured according to Archway’s transportation policy.
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment.
