Enter the Environmental Mind Grind for a chance to win $1,500.00 for your high school
The Abbotsford Mission Recycling Program is hosting its third annual Environmental Mind Grind contest for Abbotsford and Mission high school students. The Environmental Mind Grind is an academic trivia based competition where student teams from different schools will compete against each other answering questions focused on climate change, energy, forests, transportation and air quality, waste, water and species and spaces. Students will prepare for this competition by reviewing the material in the contest study guide. This study guide can be accessed by downloading a copy from the Recycling Program’s website or by e-mailing the Education Coordinator at email@example.com
The Mind Grind competition will be held on Saturday, April 23rd, 2016 in honour of Earth Day with the winning team receiving $1,500.00 to be used towards an environmental initiative at their high school. Some environmental initiatives include, but are not limited to: purchasing recycling and composting bins; attending an environmental education fieldtrip, purchasing reusable or compostable dishes and utensils for the cafeteria; updating signage and the location of waste bins; or building a school garden. Monetary prizes will also be awarded to the second and third place teams. All participants will receive a contest t-shirt and gift bag filled with eco-friendly items.
This event will provide an opportunity for young members of our community to learn about our local environment and showcase their ideas for the future. Please register your team by Friday, March 23rd at the Recycling Program’s website.
