Parenting can be a difficult and stressful job at times. Getting angry with others and yourself? It happens. Here are some of the preventative steps to managing anger as taught in the Family Education’s Anger Awareness class.

  1. Developing assertive boundaries and expressing myself assertively.
  2. Surrounding myself with assertive individuals.
  3. Being aware of my triggers, and avoiding them if possible.
  4. Paying attention to signs in my body telling me that I am getting angry and that I need to stop myself from flaring up.
  5. Being careful not to sabotage me (schedule is too busy, addictions, lack of organization, negative self-talk, lack of sleep, poor budgeting)
  6. Dealing with unresolved issues in my life.
  7. Living out my ways to reduce the presence of anger in my life.
