A Resting Heart: Documentary Screening and Conversation
- Where: Matsqui Centennial Auditorium (32315 South Fraser Way, Abbotsford)

- Hosts: UFV Peace and Reconciliation Centre (PARC) and the City of Abbotsford’s Culture City Program Series
The public debut screening of A Resting Heart, a documentary produced by the Peace and Reconciliation Centre and Desire Amouzou that explores ongoing legacies associated with the 1884 lynching of Louie Sam, a 15-year-old Stó:lō boy.

- Hosts: Abbotsford Children’s Theatre, Abbotsford Fire and Rescue Services, Abbotsford Police Department, Abbotsford School District, City of Abbotsford, FVRL, Heritage Abbotsford Society, Literacy Matters Abbotsford, Sumas First Nation, The Reach Gallery Museum, Tourism Abbotsford, and UFV: Peace and Reconciliation Centre.
A community day of learning, reflection, and connection in honour of Truth and Reconciliation. The event includes scheduled activities and performances, as well as drop-in stations open throughout the day.
Online Events
Lunch and Learn Events
For people who might not be able to make it out to an event for Orange Shirt Day, the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation is holding a week of online lunch and learns from September 21st to September 25th.
Lunch and Learn sessions are aimed at an adult audience and will be hosted virtually over Zoom Webinar and streamed to YouTube.
Most sessions will be 60 minutes in length and will include a Q&A between the moderator and guest(s).
All sessions will have simultaneous English-French, and ASL interpretation.
Chilliwack Events
Chamber Connections: Learning, Connection & Community
- Where: Shxwhá:y Village Cultural Building (44692-B Skway Road, Chilliwack)
- When: Tuesday, September 22 (5:00p.m – 8:00p.m)
- Hosts: Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce
Community members, business professionals, and local leaders are invited to gather and hear from a guest speaker (Tyrone McNeil) as he shares perspectives on Indigenous history, culture, and reconciliation.
Bridging Hearts: A Step Towards Unity and Healing
- Where: Coqualeetza Grounds (7201 Vedder Road – near the Longhouse)
- When: Wednesday, September 30 (10:00a.m- 2:00p.m)
- Hosts: Stó:lō Nation
The event will feature Indigenous guest speakers, cultural performances, local Indigenous vendors, and food trucks.
Truth & Reconciliation Day at Greendale Acres
- Where: Greendale Acres (41905 West Yale Road, Chilliwack)
- When: Wednesday, September 30 (10:00a.m- 6:00p.m)
- Hosts: Greendale Acres
All Indigenous guests receive free admission at the gate. There will be a special cultural sharing with the Pil’alt Canoe Family taking place from 2pm to 3 pm. Bannock will be available for purchase from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM, with proceeds supporting the Memiyelhtel program.
