Foundry Abbotsford has received a donation of $14,005.70 from the Holiday Smile Cookie campaign at Tim Hortons.

The annual campaign ran this year from Nov. 18 to 24 with cookie sales from 14 Tim Hortons locations in Abbotsford benefiting Foundry Abbotsford and Tim Hortons Foundation camps.

“We are deeply grateful to all of the Abbotsford Tim Hortons restaurant owners and the entire Abbotsford community for their incredible support through the Holiday Smile Cookie campaign. This generous donation will significantly enhance our ability to provide necessary services to youth and families in our community,” said Foundry Abbotsford manager Elizabeth Shields.

Before the campaign, pre-order forms were emailed to various community groups and schools across Abbotsford which alone raised over $1,000.

Foundry youth also got the opportunity to decorate Smile Cookies during the campaign.

“One of the highlights for some of our youth was at the South Fraser Way’s Tim Hortons where restaurant owners Bob and Surinder Virk set up a temporary decorating station in their restaurant. The youth had a blast and felt so special knowing that all the Abbotsford Tim Hortons were helping to raise money for Foundry Abbotsford,” said Tiera Murray, group facilitator at Foundry Abbotsford.

Tim Hortons has run its annual Smile Cookie campaign for 25 years to raise money for charities and community groups, but this is the second time it took place during the holiday season.

Foundry Abbotsford is a collaboration of program partners including Fraser Health with Archway Community Services as the lead agency.

Foundry Abbotsford offers integrated services for youth and families focusing on mental health, substance use, primary care, peer support, and social services.

Serving over 2,000 youth last year, their goal is to make it easier for young people aged 12-24 to find the help and support they need. Services are free and confidential and are offered in a youth-friendly environment.
