Extreme Heat Preparedness for Seniors

Extreme Heat Preparedness Program for Seniors educates the community on staying safe in the heat, coordinates transportation and develops a social safety net for seniors during extreme heat events.

Transportation During Extreme Heat

The Community Van can be used as a mode of transport from home to the nearest cooling centers and back home during extreme heat events.

Heat Safety Education

We will cover the following topics in workshops:

• Preparing for extreme weather
• Recognizing physical signs of heat-related illness
• Evacuating to a cooling center

Develop a Social Safety Net for Seniors

We will assign a volunteer buddy to seniors for regular check-ins and support before and during extreme heat events.
