Fraser Valley Construction Electrician Foundation Program

Helping individuals gain the qualifications and experience needed for careers in the construction electrical trade.

Fraser Valley Construction Electrician Foundation Program

The Fraser Valley Construction Electrician Foundation Program is a employment and skills training initiative that runs from November 9, 2026 to June 18, 2027. It is designed to help unemployed, underemployed, and underrepresented individuals gain the qualifications, practical experience, and industry connections needed to enter the construction electrical trade.

The program serves participants from priority populations, including youth, immigrants, Indigenous people, women, and individuals facing multiple barriers to employment. Through a combination of occupational skills training, work experience, and individualized employment supports, participants are prepared for entry-level Electrical Helper and Pre-Apprentice Electrician opportunities.

Skills Training & Practicum

Delivered in partnership with Western Community College (WCC), the program provides 720 hours of PTIRU-approved Construction Electrician Foundation training that combines classroom instruction and industry-recognized safety certifications. Participants develop foundational knowledge in electrical theory, wiring, circuitry, Canadian Electrical Code requirements, workplace safety, and construction site practices. Following training, participants complete a 4-week practicum with employers across Fraser Valley, allowing them to apply their skills in real workplace settings and build valuable industry contacts.

Employment and Participant Supports

In addition to technical training, Archway Community Services provides other supports to help participants successfully complete training and transition into employment.

Supports include:

  • Career planning
  • Job search assistance
  • Resume and interview preparation
  • Barrier reduction planning
  • Regular participant coaching
  • Connections to employers across the Fraser Valley

Please note: Participants referred by WorkBC are eligible for living and transportation supports

The program creates a pathway to sustainable employment and apprenticeship opportunities while helping address the growing demand for skilled workers in British Columbia’s construction sector.
