Archway Community Services is now accepting participants for the Fraser Valley Construction Electrician Foundation Program, a free employment and skills training initiative designed to help individuals build careers in the construction electrical trade.
Delivered in partnership with Western Community College, the training will run from November 9, 2026, to June 18, 2027 at their Surrey campus.
Through a combination of classroom instruction, occupational skills training, work experience opportunities, and individualized employment support, participants will gain the knowledge and practical skills required for entry-level positions as Electrical Helpers and Pre-Apprentice Electricians.
The program is open to individuals aged 17 and older, with a focus on supporting immigrants, youth, Indigenous peoples, women interested in trades, and those facing multiple barriers to employment.
To be eligible, applicants must be receiving Employment Insurance (EI) or Income Assistance, have received EI within the past five years or be EI eligible, and have an intermediate level of English proficiency.
“We are excited to offer this program to the community and help create more pathways into the skilled trades,” said Mila Aberten, manager of Immigrant Employment Services at Archway.
“The Fraser Valley Construction Electrician Foundation Program will provide participants with valuable training, hands-on experience, and industry connections that can lead to meaningful, long-term employment opportunities.”
Those interested in learning more or applying can email electrician.foundation@archway.ca or visit the program website.
The deadline to apply is Friday, November 6th.
