When we requested stories of amazing volunteers to feature, LINC instructor Rosanna was quick to mention Patricia, who volunteers as a teacher’s assistant in the LINC program to newcomers learning the English language. She has volunteered in this role with several different programs in our multicultural department.
Patricia enjoys volunteering because she feels it’s important to give back to the community; even if she helps one person integrate into life in Abbotsford, she feels satisfied she’s been a part of that connection. After all, settling into the community can help carve a better future for a newcomer to Canada.
We want to say thank you to Patricia for being so willing to help out, whether it’s for one person who needs individualized support or a whole LINC class of students who are eager to speak and befriend a Canadian from outside the classroom.
